What does it all mean?
Domain Name
A name used to access webspace via an internet browser.
Hosting Package
Consists of options used to define your website. From webspace, email accounts, sql databases to bandwidth and various scripts and templates it is all defined by which hosting package you choose.
Webspace
Where files are stored ready to be accessed via a domain name. Its usually common to buy both a domain name and hosting package. The size of webspace determines how many pages, images, data the website will display.
Bandwidth
A measure of data flow rate in digital networks typically measued in bits per second, the more bandwidth the more information can be downloaded.
SQL Database
'SQL' stands for "Structured Query Language" - the most common standardised language used to access databases. MySQL is used to access databases on the internet due to its connectivity, speed and security.
Mailboxes
A mail box stores mail on our server until you download it using an email client like Outlook Express.
Our mail servers support POP3 and IMAP.
Email Autoresponder
Email Autoresponders allows an email address on your account to automatically respond with a specific message.
Email Forwarding
Email Forwarding allows you to forward any email address @yourdomain.co.uk to any email address you choose, for example a hotmail or yahoo.com address. You can forward each address to up to ten different addresses.
FTP Account
FTP - File Transfer Protocol - This is used to access your webspace and copy files to and from your website.
Website Control Panel
Where the various components of your website can be controlled and setup from email accounts to ftp accounts, its all accesssable via your Website Control Panel.
Webmail Email Access
A website where your emails can be accessed by simply logging in using your username and password.
Scripts and Templates
Simplify the creating of websites along with specific parts of websites with pre defined and designed code that enables complex tasks and websites to be made easily.
Skype
Online VOIP (VOICE OVER INTERNET PROTOCOL) company where you can make traditional phone calls and also send instant messages using the software loaded on your computer / laptop and mobile phone.
